ANASTASIA ROUSSEL BIOGRAPHY
Anastasia’s film debut was A MURDER OF CROWS appearing with Cuba Gooding Jr. In addition to various TV credits and a recurring on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, noted performances include the independent features DREAMERS and TINA GETS HER MAN, a short film produced by Kevin Costner.
Originally from the east coast, Anastasia was offered a Talent Grant and a Voice Scholarship to Otterbein College where she later received a BFA Degree in Musical Theatre Performance. In her senior year she was awarded a Meritorious Achievement Award from The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for being a finalist in the prestigious IRENE RYAN ACTING COMPETITION. Upon graduation, she moved west to obtain an MFA Degree in Acting from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The summers in between were filled with summer stock shows both on the east coast and northern California.
While in Los Angeles, noted theatre directors she has worked with include Jules Aaron, Deborah LaVine, Craig Belknap, and Robert Bennedetti. She has also performed with Shakespeare and Friends, The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, and Theatre Nova. She credits invaluable industry experience to working for Jay Leno and NBC’s THE TONIGHT SHOW as well as other Los Angeles based production companies, Modern Media and Zeal Pictures.
Anastasia’s interest in filmmaking led her to co-found White Swan Films. She is the writer, producer and lead actress of the award-winning film AIMEE PRICE. In October 2007, she received “Best Actress in a Narrative Short” at The Baltimore Women’s Film Festival for her role as Aimée. She is also the co-writer of THE QUALITY OF MERCY, a 16th century drama and REFLECTION, a psychological thriller currently in development.
